The Philadelphia 76ers plan to pursue James Harden and the Brooklyn Nets are ready to discuss a deal, according to a report.

With the NBA trade deadline fast approaching next Thursday, Friday’s bombshell news was announced by the athlete‘s Shams Charania saw one of the league’s most talented players move from one Eastern Conference giant to another.

The emergence of Tyrese Maxey meant the Sixers were in no rush to finalize a deal for Ben Simmons, despite the summer the chaotic situation between the former Rookie of the Year and the franchisebut now with the opportunity to trade for Harden to pair with MVP candidate Joel Embiid, they are expected to actively try to broker a deal.

Multiple Sources told the athlete The 76ers and Nets are expected to engage in dialogue about a deal for Simmons for 2018 MVP Harden with Philadelphia’s roster that includes various role players in Maxey, Seth Curry and defensive ace Matisse Thybulle who could help create a deal comes about.

The report insists the Nets believe there is no urgency to finalize a deal but it is believed there is an opening which could allow the team to build a more well-rounded squad.

Harden missed Friday’s game for the Nets against the Utah Jazz due to a strain in his left hamstring as the team suffered their seventh straight loss.

With Kyrie Irving having a player option at the end of the season and Kevin Durant still at the peak of his powers, maybe a trade for Harden GM Sean Marks would offer more flexibility.

Their big three, Harden, Irving and Durant, have only managed about 16 games together over the year, so that could also play a role in whether they decide to make a deal. There are also questions about his fit at the nets and whether his ball-hungry style suits them long-term.

Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey has an existing relationship with Harden since their time together with the Houston Rockets, which could help ease the path to a deal from Harden’s side.

It’s a huge bonus for the Sixers that they could try to pair a true superstar with Embiid this season instead of having to wait for summer. The Nets would certainly want a significant win from the 76ers, but while it’s far from certain, the means and desire appear to be there on both sides to strike a deal.
